IF I FORGET THE PASSWORD HOW TO OPEN IT??

On the assumption that you are talking about a Microsoft Access database
(which is the subject of this newsgroup), then search the web: there are
lots of cheap, maybe even free, password recovery tools.

Incidentally, using all capitals is considered to be SHOUTING, and is
impolite.

Jane,

You're in trouble! This is no easy task. There are password breaking
apps out there, do a search on the net and you'll find some - the
problem is if your password is longer than four or five characters it
may take veeeery long before it's cracked, if at all.
I believe there are also conmpanies out there that will do it for you
for a fee.

Nikos

Not so. There are lots of little gizmos out there that simply read the user
name and password from an Access mdw file. Sad but true.

How about the Open password on an .mdb?

I'd sure like to find something like that. I did find one free one
but it will only give me the first two characters unless I pay a bunch
of money. I'm not rich.

I got into a protected FileMaker Pro db years ago. I had just seen
the movie "Hackers" and tried "god" as the PW and, voila! I'm in.

More recently, I had the task of analyzing several Access dbs. One
was PW protected and the db owner wasn't going to be available for
several days. I downloaded PasswordTools Access Password but it only
gives the first two characters. Knowing something about the db owner
allowed me to intuit the rest but I might have been stuck and
consequently late with the project.

Many people (including me) use some logic in chosing a PW. It makes
it easier to remember. It also makes it easier to crack.

If you know of a password utility that will give me the whole thing
without costing a bundle, please share.

Much appreciated,
RD
