If I upgrade word 97 will my previous files still be there?

Hi,
I thought I had word 200o installed but only have word 97! How do I upgrade
and if I do, will my previous files in 97 still be accessible?

You upgrade by purchasing a newer version. Your files should be fine but I'd
strongly recommend backing them up first. Better safe than sorry.
 
You can upgrade in place (over Word 97), but you may not be able to find a
retail source of Word 2000 since the current version is Word 2003.
