if dun started first after boot no other task will start

This started several months ago.

If I connect to my dialup ISP before starting my browser or email, then I have to shutdown the dun connection and wait a while before these task will eventually start. Task manager will also not start due to this problem.

Win XP SP2 completely up to date.
All works fine as long as DUN is not being used.
Do not have this problem when using my wireless broadband connection.
I created a new connectoid and that didn't help.

Here's a thought.. if your broadband is dsl, run the modem through a dsl
filter.
