IExplorer Link to Media Player??

Hello everyone,

I seem to have lost the link between IE7 & Media Player, for example when I
click on a video type file where in most instances it would open Media
Player automatically it doesn't now !!

Any hints or tips appreciated , Thank you

Chris,

Click Start, Default Programs, click "Set program access and computer defaults", click "Custom". Select "Windows Media Player" and click OK.

What Ramesh said was spot on. =)

If you're still having problems post back up with a file type (extension)
that's affected by this and I'll ask some further diagnostic questions to
get to the root of this - it'd probably be induced by a bad third party. =\

It .WMV or .AVI ...... all video files really

So you went to Set Program Access and Defaults and set WMP as default and
that did not fix you up, correct?

What is the default value for HKEY_CLASSES_ROOT\.wmv ?
What are the registry keys and values under
HKEY_CLASSES_ROOT\WMP11.AssocFile.WMV ? You can export those to a text file
and then paste that text file in here if that is easier for you.
What are the values under HKEY_CLASSES_ROOT\MIME\Database\Content
Type\video/x-ms-wmv ?
