IExplore process not terminating on exit

After using Internet Explorer and closing it down, when I
then go to shut down, it says IExplore is still running
and to Wait or End Task. Pressing Ctrl-Alt-Del shows
iexplore.exe still running under processes. If I
highlight it and End it, then the system will shut down
fine. If I go out and back into IE6, it will show
multiple instances of IExplore.exe running under Processes.
