when I do a 'cntl/alt/delete, I see IEXPLORE.EXE running
even though everything is closed. When I try to end this
process nothing happens. This is taking up about 46K of
memory. Running Windows XP Pro. Any suggestions?

IE 6.

Try this: Tools > Internet Options > Advanced > Browsing
Uncheck the Enable 3rd party browser extensions

If this clears your problem then find out who the culprit(s) is/are with
these tools.
