Is it possible to stop this process? When I select stop process it just
pops right back up.

It could be malware unless you're running the Active Desktop. (I'm not
sure that causes Iexplore to run.) Right-click the process, click "End
Process Tree" and see if that helps. Also try installing, updating and
running these:

There is a very good chance are that you are seeing the affects of a
hijackware infection.

1. See if you can download/run the MSRT manually:
http://www.microsoft.com/security/malwareremove/default.mspx

2. Run the Windows Live Safety Center's 'Protection' scan (only!) in Safe
Mode with Networking, if need be:
http://onecare.live.com/site/en-us/center/howsafe.htm

3. Run a /thorough/ check for hijackware, including posting the requested
logs in an appropriate forum, not here.

If the procedures look too complex - and there is no shame in admitting this
isn't your cup of tea - take the machine to a local, reputable and
independent (i.e., not BigBoxStoreUSA) computer repair shop.

Not running active desktop (I don't think). stop process tree didn't
help, still pops back up. I am trying to uninstall a trial version of
Adobe InDesign.

Thanks for the tip. I managed to get the adobe program removed by
getting in during the 2-3 second window before iexplore.exe restarts.
Now I will have to work on the malware problem. Sounds like what it is.

Microsoft malicious software removal tool reports
backdoor:Win32/Hupigon.CK detected, not removed. Will follow up on this one.

Reading the links, perhaps the best hope would be to reformat and
reinstall xp? your opinion?
Bob

Use my Remove-it software, it will remove that malware from your system.
Choose yes for all options when prompted. Download it here

Seems that someone really has it in for PA Bear - headers show that the

Leythos,
Yesterday, it seemed that someone really had it in for (the real) Leythos
- copied your 'From:' header and your other (Latin) .sig, went through
motzarella.org, but used the same message as today.

YW. Good luck.

Thanks, formatting and clean install underway now.

A format & clean install would be the most expedient way to resolve the
problem, yes. A Repair Install will not help!

But he's not posting via motzarella.org anymore! <VBEG>

He never was posting using motzarella.org Leythos used the wrong headers.
Butts posts with SBCGlobal.

Actually, if you check, you will see that I didn't mention WHO was doing
the impersonation in this thread:
