IE6

i am having problems installing some patches for ie6, i
have installed SP1 and the latest cumulative patch for
ie. However i have downloaded some other patches to fix
some problems i have been having with mshtml.dll and when
i try to apply them it either says ie6 with sp1 needs to
be instlled or ie 6 needs to be installed? i am thinking
the OS doesnt know which version i am running and that it
needs to be reinstalled? any help would be much
appreciated!!

Thanks for that i have checked value is set to one? could
it be confused if i still have the key for ie6 without
the sp?

I've been having the same problem since before the previous cumulative
patch (May/June?) and have been unable to apply any IE6 updates for some
time.

My version of IE is 6.0.2600.0000 xpsp2.021108-1929 with update versions
Q321232 & Q323759

The associated files (mshtml.dll; urlmon.dll etc) all show version 1170.
From what I understand, the IE version should reflect this and not show
'0000'

IE works perfectly well, but there is obviously something amiss!

I have posted questions to ie6.browser & windowsupdate groups but the
only tips have been to reinstall or repair IE6 (I have no repair option
in add/remove programs!)

I am reluctant to go to this extreme unless there is no other option.
I'm hoping someone here can help.
