ie6 won't download files

Problem 1:
Every time I try to download anything (e.g. security
update patch) I get the following dialogue box:

Internet Explorer cannot download q828750.exe from
download.microsoft.com.
Internet Explorer was not able to open this Internet
site. The requested site is either unavailable or cannot
be found. Please try later.

In desperation I have installed Opera - which downloads
perfectly!

Problem 2:
The 'History' function does not work, it never stores
sites that I have visited!

Please help or will be compelled to defect to Opera
permanently!

If you are using McAfee anti-virus turn off the ActiveX part of Internet
Filter.
