IE6 Running Untypically Slow

I just switched from an AOL dial-up account to a DSL account. Since I
installed it two months ago, the DSL worked as expected until last Saturday.
First, I uninstalled (I think) all of the remaining AOL software I had.
Second, I loaded Microsoft Combat Flight Simulator 2. Since then, my
browser has been running bloody slow, at some times seeming slower than
dial-up; the mouse moves very choppy and slow. However, when I download
(for example, I tried to download updates prior to this posting that did not
work), the DSL works as quickly as it should. I have uninstalled the Flight
Sim, but the problem remains. Any help would be greatly appreciated. Thank
you.
