IE6 losing focus when pressing enter key in an input box

Hi,

A couple of days ago this problem started. When I am on a webpage that
contains an input box, every time I press enter, IE6 loses focus and some
data is sent out through the modem before IE6 resumes operation (although
focus is still lost from IE6) - by focus, I mean that it is as if another
window has been activated and IE6 is no longer the active window (unless I
click on it again).

This also happens if I am typing text into a forum multi-line text input
box. If I want to create a new line of text and press enter, instead of
giving a line space in the text box, focus is taken away from IE6 and the
modem has some activity (something is being sent out through the modem). I
have Mcaffee virus checker, zone alarm firewall and have also using
Hijackthis but none of these are showing a problem, but there obviously is.
(I am running windows ME, never been a problem until 2 days ago)

Help Please

thanks

Jon

In most of those cases the Enter key is treated as a Send or Submit button.
Use the tab field to move to the next field. Use Ctrl-Enter to move to a
new line.

But it only started doing it this way a couple of days ago. Prior to that,
pressing the enter key when in a text box within a webpage simply
generated a new line (carriage return)

It is as if something else is taking focus away from the ie browser
