IE6 Locks up on startup

Greetings

IE6 locks up on startup on WinXP HE. It gets to the splash screen and then
freezes. Task manager allows me to kill it off OK.

IE6 has been working OK for months and suddenly this happens. Any ideas as
to how I might fire it up into a 'safe mode' like Outlook?

Is there any way to create a new instance of IE6 and import the data?

TIA

Maurice

Maurice,

For IE6 (Internet Explorer 6), try this newsgroup:
microsoft.public.windows.inetexplorer.ie6.browser

For OE6 (Outlook Express 6), try this one:
microsoft.public.windows.inetexplorer.ie6_outlookexpress

This forum is for the full Microsoft Outlook application.

Hello,
There is no "safe mode" for outlook express. If you search the Microsoft
Knowledge
Base you will find several articles concerning this problem. I had the
problem a long,
long time ago on a Windows 2000 Pro box and simply downloaded and
reinstalled IE6 SP1 and that apparently
replaced files that were either missing or corrupt. Try booting into safe
mode and
see if OE will start. If it will export your address book and mail. As an
absolute last
resort you can try a system restore. One last suggestion is to start a DOS
prompt and
run ChkDsk...When you start the DOS prompt type CD\ They type chkdsk C: /f
If there are any errors on the hard disk this will fix them. It's worth a
try and may
just fix the problem. If not hit the knowledge base and read, read, read.
