IE6 Loads then Hangs up

I have IE6. A page loads then hangs up for approximately 15-20 seconds before letting go. Not until then am I able to scroll up/down, type, etc. If I refresh the page, everything works as it should. If I go to a new page, the same thing happens once again, hung up for some time before it releases
I downloaded Netscape Navigator and ran tests on different web pages. Everything worked fine using that browser
That verifies that there is no problem with the cable modem I have
Any suggestions?

Note that AdAware and SpyBot S & D will each catch some things the other
won't. Also, each needs to be updated before every use, even when just
downloaded. There's also a lot more to do than just those two programs.
