IE works, Outlook don't

This one seems simple, but is stumping me. On my desktop machine running XP
Pro, Internet Explorer hooks up to the internet just fine, but Outlook 2003
errors every time. Also, Word 2K3 also is unable to connect to the internet
for Thesaurus or Dictionary.
Laptop running XP Home and Outlook Express gets my mail fine. Cable modem,
D-link wireless router.

clicked on the new icon, but no box came up to post anything.Tinmanjim
sorry to reply to this post.don't have XP Pro, but what I had to do was
restart the computer to get rid of the problem.
Now my simple question is: How do I post a question or comment?
I clicked on "NEW", but a box did not show up to type anything into?
Followed all instructions, too. tried to contact Microsoft, but that is
almost impossible with all the different screens that come up.
