i was using fire fox. the computer started acting funny, so i uninstalled
ff. now IE wont autocomplete or remember previous web site logins. why not?
what did i change to make this stop auto complete? and how do i fix it? i
have gone into IE, tools, I options and made sure auto complete is on, but
it still doesnt work. also when i open a shortcut on desk top E.G. google,
gmail or fidelity i keep getting a message: "which program do you want to
open this file with". i choose IE, and click "use this every time i start
this program" but next time i open it, i have to go back to the "which
program do i want to use...." message. arrrrgh!

Internet Options> Programs: Check box that IE should check that it is the
default browser. Launch IE and when it asks if it should be the default say
"yes."

Also there are some "reset" buttons sprinkled throughout Internet Options.
Use those to reset the default settings of IE. Once IE is working, then
tweak other IE settings to your liking.
