This has been going on for a while now and its very irritating. When I use
IE for about an hour it just stops working and also blocks all other
connections to the internet. If I am connected already with secureCRT it
works but if I were to disconnect and try and connect again I can't.
NOTHING can be connected till I reboot.

I have DSL. I have tried to reinstall IE 4 or 5 times and get same outcome I
use it for an hour and I have to reboot. I have cleaned out cookies also to
no help.

Is there a fix for this or am I destined AGAIN to reinstall windows 2000 :((

You don't mention any details but these may help.

I tried all these its still doing it.

OK details. When I use internet explorer after an hour or so it just stops
working. When this happens NOTHING can connect to the net. Things that are
already connected continue to work BUT if I shut them down and try and start
them again I have no internet connection. By rebooting my computer I am
good for another hour or so if I use IE. If I don't use it I can go for
weeks without a reboot.

I have no virus or worm. I check that weekly or less if I hear about a new
one. I have run norton, housecall, ad-aware and The cleaner. My system is
clean and has always been.

I have tried uninstalling IE and starting over many times. I did it 2x and
did your suggestions 2x. Same outcome.

As I stated before I really hate to have to redo my hd AGAIN. This is a
fairly new system 5 months or so and I totally hate to have to redo it
again.

Anyother ideas I would greatly appreciate.

thanks

Carol

www.mozilla.org

Give either Mozilla (browser + mail + nntp) or FireFox (browser only)
a try. There is also Thunderbird (mail + nntp).

Personally, I use FireFox and TBird.

The best thing about them is that I no longer have to worry about
IE or OE crashing and dragging the whole system down with it.
FireFox does crash on me once or twice a month (versus once or
twice a week for IE) but when FireFox does crash all I have to do
is start it up again because it never makes W2K crash with it.
I can't remember that last time TBird crashed - and I have been
using it for more than a year since switching from Mozilla.

Ask them in one of the IE groups.
