IE-SPYAD has a new home. Please update your bookmarks. The old homepage
(https://netfiles.uiuc.edu/ehowes/www/resource.htm) redirects you to the
new one. Here is the new one.

Now I have a question or two about IE-SPYAD for those of you who use it.

There are three versions:
1. IE-SPYAD (HKEY_CURRENT_USER for one user)
2. IE-SPYAD2 (HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE for all users)
3. IE-SPYAD-ZO (Same as #1 but for ZonedOut)

Instructions for all 3 versions say you should uninstall the current
version before updating to a newer one. What happens if you don't
uninstall the current version first and just install the new one overtop?

Other apps also add sites to the registry for blocking (Spybot,
SpywareBlaster, etc.). I worry that when I uninstall IE-SPYAD I may also
be uninstalling some of what these other apps are blocking. Can someone
give me advice?

Each new version of IE-Spyad has--not only new entries--but also some
previous entries that have been removed. These newly removed entries
will remain in your restricted sites list if you fail to uninstall the
previous version of IE-Spyad first.

This can be a bit of a problem and my advice is that you check your
Spybot and Spywareblaster after uninstalling & installing IE-Spyad,
immunizing the former and enabling the latter, as needed. I usually find
that uninstalling IE-Spyad removes some of their "protections," but this
is no reason to abstain from using it. IE-Spyad is well worth using, IMO.

IE-SPYAD adds sites to the IE restricted zone.

Spybot's immunization sets the killbit for activex controls, they are not
related.

Spyblaster does both. As already mentioned it is simple enough to run
spyblaster again if you want to check.
