IE shut down when I click links?

Hey guys and gals when I click links to files for download my IE closes down.
Brings up the send error message etc. but shuts down...HELP it is killing me
it isnt a pop-up blocker either that works fine????

running
XP
avast virsu
zone alarm
google pop-up blocker
 
I guess the problem is caused by some BHO program ( a kind of browser addon,
normally used by popup blockers, download managers). You may use a tool
which can list all BHO programs on your computer and disable them all. The
one I used is CleanMyPC Registry Cleaner and it has a nice BHO manager. You
can download it from:

Scan your system with latest virus definitioned antivirus along with
latest versions of Spybot,Search and Destroy,CWShredder as well as
Adaware.Run all these in Safe mode.

Clear all the temp. int. files as well as cookies.

Well I did somethign diff...Iwent and downloaded the IE 7.0 and it fixed the
prob...WOW ie 7.0 is awesome

THAT it is! Beta 3 is as good as one might expect.
