In IE 6, when I type a query in the address bar, using
certain tools (Like x-teq setup) had it so it would
automatically use Google as my default search engine.
However, recently MSN Search has been taking its place,
and I cannot find a way to get it back. I used all sorts
of tools to set Google as the default searcher in the
registry and ran spybot and the like to make sure nothing
of the such was causing MSN to do this. No progress as of
yet...any ideas? Oh yea, I do not have SP2 just so you
know where I'm standing, and I'm using XP Pro

Do you have the Google toolbar installed? It has an option to set Google as
the search engine.

Do you have the google search bar displayed under the address bar? If so
click on the word Google and it will give you a list. Click on OPTIONS and
it will come up with TOOLBAR OPTIONS. Click on MORE at the top and then put
a tick in the box that says USE GOOGLE AS MY DEFAULT SEARCH ENGINE IN
INTERNET EXPLORER. Click on APPLY, then OK and it should be restored. I had
the same problem after installing XP SP2. If you cant see the GOOGLE toolbar
try clicking on VIEW, then TOOLBARS and seeing if Google is listed and if it
is click on it to put a tick against it and then follow the above
instructions. Hope this helps.
