IE problem

Hi,
I cannot change my start page (IE6 ou IE7) : I am driven
directly to http://www.live.com/?searchonly=true, even if deleting or
replacing this adress .
In the register , even if I change the Microsoft adress Microsoft in the
entry
"HKCU\Software\Microsoft\Internet Explorer\Main,Start Page =
http://www.microsoft.com/isapi/redir.dll?prd={SUB_PRD}&clcid={SUB_CLSID}&pver={SUB_PVER}&ar=home",
the entry is automatically restored, and I am still sent to "Windows live",
that
I don't know and don't want to use.
Plus, I didn't install any soft, such as Winpatrol or
Spybot...
What can I do, thanks by advance,.

quick question, but have you got norton internet security installed on your
system? It has a setting there that will not allow changes to your
Homepage.

I'd say that you need to get rid of trojans and spyware because I think that
your browser has been hijacked. Windows Defender would take care of the
latter and you can d/l free anti-virus s/w from Grisoft. Google "grisoft
virus protection free" without the quotes.

Best wishes,

Jim

NEVER download any software that recommends you need it to "fix" the
problems it "finds" on your PC.

You're right, Mark, but my "home page protection" in Norton Internet
Security is "turned on", and it seems not to work correctly.

I think it is working correctly if it won't allow a change to your homepage.
Somewhere in there you can turn it off or accept a change to your homepage.
I had this problem a couple of months ago and I tried all the registry
methods and got nowhere. Eventually I looked under the Norton INternet
security and it was blocking the change to the homepage. Once I allowed the
change it would change okay.

It took me a good 15 minutes to figure that one out as I don't use Norton
Internet Security

Check out this document:

You should also be using a 3rd party spyware scanning program as well, I
like Ewido myself but there are lot of good ones out there.
