IE, OE window size

Why is it that when I open IE6 or OE6, the window often, is not maximised?

Even when I maximise, close, and re-open - they go back to some smaller
state.

I remember reading a while back that holding some keys (Ctrl?) down when
closing would force XP to remember the current size.

Ideas?

Hi Mac,

Don't maximize, but rather drag the window to the larger size by grabbing a
corner. Then close using file/close (exit) - the old trick was to choose
exit while holding the shift or ctrl key down. It should not be necessary to
do that any longer (nor do I believe they work any longer). Also, for the
system to remember it correctly, you should only have one instance of the
program running (no multiple IE windows).

Just to add to Rick's excellent advice which you should do you might want to right click in the IE icon in the Taskbar (NOT on the Desktop) on the bottom and select Properties. In the Run box select the dropdown arrow and select Maximized. Repeat this also for OE . This will make sure that the maximized screen will not revert back at a later date.

Thanks Rick, that made sense.
