IE "Memory could not be read" Errors

I am using XP Pro with IE SP2 (both with the latest
updates). And I am experiencing "memory could not be
read" errors in IE.

This happens under various situations, however it always
happens when I close a window that was opened by clicking
on a .pdf file.

The typical error reads something like:

iexplore.exe - Application Error
The instruction at "xxxxxxxxxx" referenced memory
at "xxxxxxxx". The memory could not be "read".

Does anyone know what might be causing this? Any help is
greatly appreciated.

Memory reference error in Internet Explorer

Scan the system with Ad-Aware (www.lavasoftusa.com) and eliminate the
malware products causing the abnormal program termination.
** Update the pattern file using WEB UPDATE feature in Ad-Aware **

If the problem continues, reinstall Internet Explorer using this method:
