IE favourites

My IE favourites are overwritten every time I start a new
session. Also, the home page is changed to another page.
These pages mainly contain porn and I want to get rid of
them. I have deleted and purged caches etc but it is
still there.

I guess there must be a prog sitting on my machine
somewhere causing this - any pointers.

Hi Robert,

Your post did not mention if you are running AV. If not, please install and
get current in AV signatures, then run a scan to clean up the system as a
start. Another thing to look at is to install some kind of spyware
detection utility. There are several good ones. One example (of many
possible) is "EMS Free Surfer". You can find this on the web - put the
text into a search engine.

As with any shareware or 3rd party solution, your actual results may vary.

Hi Robert,

I thought of two other programs for detecting and eliminating spyware:
LavaSoft's Ad-aware and PepiMK Software's Spybot Search and Destroy. The
functions of these programs overlap but would complement Free Surfer.
