ie explorer

Hi all

I am unfortunately computer illiterate. Whilst using ie on my communal machine and clicking on the tools section of the toolbar it displays, along with msn messenger, a link to an iq site and an erotic site which i presume has been downloaded whilst passing through sites. How do i get rid of this? I have run ad aware packages but it stays. Have tried to edit icons but still there. Any offers, do i need to de-install and re-install ie?
