IE error

I am currently using dial-up for my home internet
connection, and have no issues connecting to my local ISP.

I can connect to the ISP, but when I launch IE, I get an
error message. (the one that asks you if you want to send
the error report or not)

Anyway the error info I get is:

Error Signature
App Name: iexplore.exe
App Ver: 6.0.2.600.0
Mod Name: winshow.dll
Mod Ver: 1.0.0.1
Offset 00002783

I have tried installing IE 6.1 service pack, but still no
IE connection.

Is there something else I can do?

Rhuff,
From Control Panel> Internet Options> Advanced uncheck "Enable third party
browser extensions." That should allow IE to open.

Run CWShredder from http://www.merijn.org/downloads.html It will remove
winshow.

Search for and remove other malware and note the security tips at:
Dealing with Unwanted Spyware and Parasites:
http://mvps.org/winhelp2002/unwanted.htm

You should re-enable browser extensions after the cleanup.
