IE downloads in an undesired method.

Windows XP Pro 2002 Service Pack 1

IE will not allow me to choose what I want to do with .zip
extentions (it does for .exe). I can't choose save as, it
just downloads from within the browser, and I have to go
to my content folder to get it (and it normally corrupts
it). Not all sites like programs with Download
Acceleraters.

Internet explorer is manually downloading pictures (a box
appears around where a picture will be at the size of that
picture).

Solutions?

Windows Explorer/Tools/Folder Options/File Types/[File Type in
Question]/Advanced. Put a check in the box that reads: Confirm open after
download.
