IE doesnt work but I am connected to net

Can someone help me please. Recently i had the w32.spybot
worm (i think its called that) and i had to manually
remove it after following instructions from Norton
Symantec site.

Now, for some reason i cannot browse the internet. I've
uninstalled and installed my broadband modem and it works
fine. The little icon at the bottom right tells me its
connected, bytes recieved/sent etc...just like normal.

however, when i open my browser, my homepage and
eveything will not work. i get an error page, (that usual
one where it says the site maybe experiencing technical
difficulties etc etc) Basically, its like i'm not
connected at all!!! I cant even update my virus
definitons via Norton liveupdate.

I have windows XP Pro. IE 6.

Any suggestions will be appreciated.

Thanks

I had the same problem. It was a browser hijack. Try
running Ad Aware or one of the spyware removal programs.
Then run your virus program. Run it a few times to clean
everything out.

The you should be able to install SP2 if you have not
already. Your problem should disappear.
