IE (6.0, SP-1) has started crashing within the last couple
of weeks. However, it initially asks me to submit the
error report first, instead of the fatal error popup. The
fatal error comes when IE tries to close after sending
report. I always send the report. Today, I noticed, that
when I click on a link that opens a new window for a PDF,
I can view the page for a few minutes, then error
reporting, and finally fatal error. This also happened
when I had a Windows Media Player window open. I have
tried restarting the computer, all critical updates are
installed and even tried slowing down my surfing (Not
clicking numerous links before IE has a chance to catch
up).
Windows 98, Office XP and Norton Anti Virus with up to
date def's. IBM Thinkpad-A21m, 192mb RAM. Adobe Reader 6.0

Any help wopuld be appreciated.

First eliminate any scumware.

Note that AdAware and SpyBot S & D will each catch some things the other
won't. Also, each needs to be updated before every use, even when just
downloaded. There's also a lot more to do than just those two programs.

If trying everything at that site does not fix the problem please post back

Thanks Frank, After sifting through the other posts, I
have run HiJack,CWShredder and LavaSoft Ad-Ware 6. I
haven't experienced any crashes since, however, I really
haven't been using the Internet today, or yesterday.
Thanks again.
