ie crashes when try to sort favourites

Frequent crashes of Internet explorer. Also every time I go to
Favourites => sort by name.
I am running windows XP home edition with service pak 2

Your Favorites folder may be damaged/corrupted. See this site on how to
backup and restore your Favorites folder:

Exporting your Favorites is accomplished in IE by going to File...Import and
Export.
