IE cannot see internet, but outlook express can?

This problem has just occured on a laptop. XP recently installed but not
yet activated. All was working fine, Sunday night. Computer not touched
Monday. On Tue, IE stopped being able to see the broadband connection and
cannot connect to the internet. Resetting its connections appears to have
no effect.

However, Outlook express claims to share IE's connection and it works
without a problem. XP on the laptop still has 14 days left before
activation is required. Any ideas on how to fix this?

You're going to have to use someone else's computer, but see
