Until today, when I did an image search the Web addresses for the sites would
always show up right below the thumbnails. Now that information doesn't show
up until I place/hover my pointer over the image.

Did I change a preference somewhere and how can I change it back?

I suppose you can't change that. This is a novelty on the part of Google
Image search. This does not happen on other image search engines I've tried.
