IE and Windows ME

After being on the internet for about 10 min., I get a
dialog box with the error message "Iexplore has caused an
error in user.exe. Iexplore will now close." Alt-d yields
the following:

IEXPLORE caused a general protection fault
in module USER.EXE at 0003:00000fdd.

Anyone have any idea what is going on with this? IE has
been uninstalled and reinstalled several times without any
results.

Pat,
There's a good possibility that this is being caused by a third-party
program (adware, spyware, parasite)

Download, install, *update* and run one or both of these programs:
Ad-aware from http://www.lavasoft.de/software/adaware/
Spybot from http://security.kolla.de/ (Remove items listed in red-others are
optional.)
