IE 7

I want to update to new version of Internet Explorer 7. My question: Do I
click "save" or "run"? Do I have to remove the old IE 6 version?
Sorry - I am not that computer smart.

Thanks for any help.

You'd be better off not downloading or installing it until MS figures
out a way to make it easier to do.

Charles...

I saved it so I had a copy, then run it after...

just leave 6 inplace...

note, once it starts the install, it takes a while, just leave it to do its
stuff...

You should post your question in the IE7 newsgroup *after* you spend
some time reading through the posts there. The IE7 newsgroup is:

microsoft.public.internetexplorer.general

There are a huge number of posts so it would be smart to start by going
to Google Groups Advanced Search. Use a search term that describes your
problem, constrain the search to the IE7 newsgroup and the date to very
recently.

And no, I'm sorry but I don't have your answer or I would tell you
now. ;-)

You definitely should do some preparation before installing IE7. Here
are some links to help you:

You can do either..

If you choose "run," it downloads it to a temporary location, then installs
it. So the installed copy of it will remain, but the installation program
will go away.

If you choose "save," it will save it wherever you tell it to and it will
remain there. You then have to run it yourself to install it. You might want
to do this, for example, if you have two computers, and don't want to
download it twice, once for each machine.

It works the same way for any program you download.

Do I have to remove the old IE 6 version?

Matter of choice but I would suggest "save" so you always have a copy
of the installation file in case you need or want to install it again.

No and I don't even think you can anyway. No necessary anyway.

Neither is M$ so don't feel like the lone ranger and they are worth
billions.

A lot of computer savvy people are passing this one by until the every
evident bugs are ironed out. For you saying that you are "not that
computer smart" I would suggest you give this one some time to
"mature" before jumping in. Read all threads with IE7, IE 7 in them
to keep yourself educated on what problems are coming out on this one.

Like you, I was willing and ready to upgrade to 7 but after reading a
lost of negative posts and reviews, I think I will give this one
around 6 months before checking into it again.
