IE 6 won't download anything

No matter where I go on the internet and try and download
it won't let me do it. It gives me some strange error
message, unfortunately I did not bring the error message
with me.
Anyway - I can't download
 
Its happened to me. And they say to fix it, DOWNLOAD
something. If we can't download, how the heck are we
supposed to fix it? i've tried everything. It says that
IE cannot download "filename" from "webserver". Bla,
bla, bla.
 
Iget the same message..it is addressed in kb 816868 which
says to contact MS to get the fix but there is no way to
contact MS that does not cost$$$$. The KB article also
mentions a fix in SP 2 but does not say when it will be
out????
