IE 6 visited links quit working

For some strange reason my visited links quit working. I tried everything but
reinstalling IE 6 for SP2 which involves downloading again the huge SP2. This
is very annoying and I don't even know if that will help, Any ideas?

Visited links info in IE is stored in the hidden index.dat file in your
History folder. First try clearing your History - Tools...Internet
Options...General tab...Clear History. If no joy, you'll have to totally
delete the History folder. See the instructions here on how to do that:

Jon, Thanks for your answer

I think I have to elaborate in something that I found out (thanks to your
help)... This issue is caused by the ADD ON's of McAfee Viruscan, once
disabled I was back on having my visited links... I found the answer in the
link you posted here.
