My IE 6 toolbar colour is a deep purple. The means I cannot see the toolbars
properly (home page icon, history icon etc, along with my links etc). How can
I change the colour of the toobar. I have been advised already to check my
updates which has been done and they are all installed. Someone else seemed
to think I should have the option in the tools dropdown menu to change the
toolbar colour - but I don't. Any ideas please?

Thanks in advance

Are the toolbars in other programs okay?

Yes all the other toolbars in other applications/programs etc are all ok. The
only one with the deep purple is IE6.

I would be very suspicious if something changed mine, but the short
answer is to remove it from the Registry.
Start-Run-Regedit
Navigate to this key:

HKEY_CURRENT_USER\software\microsoft\Internet Explorer\Toolbar

Delete "BackBitmapIE5"

Alan,

Many thanks - This worked. I have made a copy of the file just in case but
all is looking good again. This is a new laptop and came with this strange
banner - nothing changed it.
Thank you once again - this was driving me mad.

Hi Ian,

Thanks for the feedback.
You should need to keep the file that was referenced as your toolbar
wallpaper. You can use your own if you get adventuresome but
"BackBitmapIE5" is not there by default, so its absence causes no
problem.
