I got "The page cannot be displayed" message each time
Internet Explorer (IE 6.0.2800.1106) is launched. I am
running Windows XP.

Strangely enough, I can access the net through Explorer
(Srart - explore - type in web address). BUT, I cannot
launch a new page from there. For example: I can go to
google.com and do a search. But when I right click on one
of the results to launch a new page, the same message
came on "The page cannot be displayed." Likewise,
similar problem with Java page and other links that
automatically open up a new page.

HELP! I have tried for weeks getting the right answer.
Microsoft's answer forum did not address the problem I
encountered.

By the way, I am using a Compaq Presario 2100. I had
tried Compaq's helpline. The customer service took me
around the globe (literally) and and I had spent hours
waiting and listening to answers that did not solve the
issue.

THANKS!!

Note that AdAware and SpyBot S & D will each catch some things the other
won't. Also, each needs to be updated before every use, even when just
downloaded. There's also a lot more to do than just those two programs.

If trying everything at that site does not fix the problem please post back
