Hi,

Recently had a IE6 problems..which I thought cured, however I gave up on
trying to resolve the fact the right click menu> view source. Did not work
nor did taskbar "source".
I now find that if I right click anyimage to save has ...every image is
shown as "untitled" bmp.
Using Firefox...I get all information ie view source and correct image file
names.
The clear cache or delete temp files "repairs" have not solved this...any
suggestions welcome.

Hi Art :)

Try the following and see if it helps:

Images:

XP users can use the following command to restore default
graphics file associations:

regsvr32 /i shimgvw.dll

IE saves images in BMP format only

Tools>Internet Options. Delete Temporary Internet Files and
Check *Include Offline Content.*

or..

Right Clicking or Selecting Save Picture As Does Not Save Image with Correct
Extension
http://support.microsoft.com/kb/250747

For View Source:
View Source Not Working in Internet Explorer (All Windows)
http://www.winguides.com/registry/display.php/1246/
or
Source Code Is Not Displayed When You Click Source on the View Menu in
Internet Explorer
http://support.microsoft.com/default.aspx?scid=kb;[LN];306907

Line: 183. View Source Restore Notepad as Default
http://www.kellys-korner-xp.com/xp_tweaks.htm

View Source Add or Change Editor (Line 183)
http://www.kellys-korner-xp.com/xp_tweaks.htm

There has also been some reports that Quick View Plus can cause this
problem.
See the below links for further information if required:-
http://www.mvps.org/inetexplorer/answers2.htm#view_source
and/or
http://www.colba.net/~hlebo49/iescrcod.htm

Also, if you have a shortcut to Notepad on your desktop rename it to Npad.

Some people have reported that Quick View Plus can cause this. See this
site for a fix for that:
http://www.winguides.com/registry/display.php/774/

Courtesy of Don Varnau:

First, clear the IE cache. IE> Tools> Internet Options> General> Delete
files (and delete offline content.) It's often recommended that the TIF
folder be kept at about 50 MB (Settings.)

or .........................

Restore Source View

Backup your registry before modifying

Search the registry (Start>run..type in "regedit" without the quotes>
press OK, The search for the DWORD "noviewsource".(without the quotes)

If that exists, delete it or set it to 0.

Hope this helps :)

Hi Jan,

Thanks for all that info...hope I did'nt keep ypu up late sorting it :)
Line: 183. View Source Restore Notepad as Default - thsi gave me a pop up
which indicated that the disk or file could be corrupt.
I have had a view problems and I have a crap HP Pavillion 780...oldish and
cursed with having the Windos XP files locked into a sealed partition.
I only use this machine for Internet connected stuff in an attempt to ward
off the dreaded email virus's etc,.
So far noine of the suggestion form yourself and others have cured this..so
assume it is down to corrupt files or disk.
Guess I will ahve to get used to it.

Thanks again to you and Don for your help, off to do a re-boot and try the
options again!

Cheers

Hi,

Never did get sorted, tried all the fixes suggested none worked.
Also now found that cannot instigate email from online reply forms.
Seems only solution is to format the drive and re-install everyting.....
