I have conducted a Norton Virus Scan and an Ad-aware scan (custom) of my XP
Home version PC. There are no viruses or ad-ware installed on my PC, yet over
the last few weeks my IE 6 just keeps crashing at various times. I will be
looking at a web page, then when i click 'back' or 'home' or another shortcut
it goes white and looks like it is trying to load a new page for example and
it wont go any further. When I go to log off it comes up with a grey box
saying IE 6 has not been closed properly and a progress bar appears and its
says end now or wait. So something is wrong. If it is not a virus or adware,
what is it? Any ideas anyone. (I do have SP2 by the way). Thanks

No I am not. That would cost extra and as I already have Norton 2005,
Ad-aware, Spybot, Windows own firewall, and the new Windows security center
on SP2 i dont see why I should pay out more for more protection. I have not
got any other PC problems. Or is there something I am missing?

Other than that..any other suggestions?

Ad-Aware does not catch all malware. First eliminate any spyware.

In Spybot are you using the Resident "TeaTime"? I was having a similar
problem as you and after checking step-by-step with various spyware programs
I ended by blocking the "ad-watch" in Ad-Aware AND "teatime" in Spybot. The
problem was fixed so one or the other was causing the problem. The only
problem was they were both active for a long time and for some unknown
reason this started about a month or so ago.
