Please follow or check out the methods listed and see if it works.
Method 1:
========
Yahoo Companion can, for some people, stop Ctrl N and 'open in new window'
from working. Uninstall to test.
Method 2: (for URL:Hypertext Transfer Protocols)
=========
1. Close all Programs
2. Open My Computer
3. Click on the menu "Tools", then select "Folder Options"
4. In the Folder Options dialog box, select the tab "File Types"
5. Scroll down to "URL:Hypertext Transfer Protocol" as "File Types"
6. Highlight and click on edit, then edit again OR Highlight and click
"Advanced" (Fox XP systems)
7. In the "Edit File Type" dialog box, highlight "open" under the heading
"Actions"
8. Click on the "Edit ..." button
9. Make sure the program used to perform the operation is listed as
follows:
"C:\PROGRAM FILES\INTERNET EXPLORER\iexplore.exe" -nohome
10. Check to make sure that the path to "iexplore.exe" is correct for your
machine, and make sure you include all quote marks and spaces.
11. Make sure of the following:
a. "Use DDE" checkbox is selected
b. Application is "IExplore"
c. Topic is " WWW_OpenURL "
12. Click OK , OK then Close
Method 2 : (Continued.... for URL:Gopher Protocol)

1. Close all Programs
2. Open My Computer

5. Scroll down to "URL:Gopher Protocol" as "File Types"
6. Highlight and click on edit, then edit again OR Highlight and click
"Advanced" (Fox XP systems)
7. In the "Edit File Type" dialog box, highlight "open" under the heading
"Actions"
8. Click on the "Edit ..." button
9. Make sure the program used to perform the operation is listed as
follows:

Make sure if you are follwing Method 2, you check out the "URL:Hypertext
Transfer Protocol" and "URL:Gopher Protocol" Files types
