I have a Windows 2000 server which is having some sessions
freeze. Viewing the sys log, I came across the following
event 26: idle timer expires. session has been idle over
its time limit., today at 10am, 11:30am, then again at
1pm. The rdp setting has idle session limit to 3 hours.Any
suggestions?

There are two places that the idle timeout can be set. You mentioned that
the RDP timeout is 3 hours, but you also mentioned that this is only
happening to some users. In addition to the RDP idle timeout, have you
checked the Sessions tab of the user or group properties? The idle session
limit can be configured there as well and will over-ride the RDP session
idle timeout.
