identical destination filenames error

Keith Combs

Hello,

I am trying to publish from a website (http://www.domainname.com) website to
a local IIS website (http://hostname/websitename) and receive the following
error message:

"You specified identical destination filenames for some of the files you are
trying to copy. Make sure all destination files have unique names and try
again"

The destination web is empty. Any ideas what may be causing this issue? We
are using FP 2003 and WinXP Pro SP1 on the target side. The source is a
Unix (Linux I think) web with FP extensions installed.

Thanks,

Keith

Check you live site to make sure you don't have two file named the same, but
with different Case
i.e., Index.htm and index.htm are consider two separate files under
Unix/Linux, but under Windows they are considered to be one and the same,
and would create the error you are seeing.

Thanks Thomas but what is the best way to check?

Also, why would it matter since the source is unix, not the target?

You have to manually look.

It matter because you are trying to publish from a Unix/Linux server
(source) to a Windows server (target), and you can not have two files with
the same name, but with different cases in it spelling.
