ICS and File sharing problems

I have 2 computers: a desktop running XP pro, and a laptop running xp home.
I have a linksys WAP54G wireless access point pluged into the eithernet port of my desktop, and a wireless card in my laptop.
I am trying to share a dialup internet connection, files and printers from the Desktop.
I ran the network setup wizard on both, and set up shares both ways. I can get the internet to connect and share, but I can only see files from my laptop on my desktop. not my desktop files from my laptop.
I tried to disable the ICF, by right clicking the internet connection going to the advanced tab and unchecking ICF, but that didn't change. I ran the network setup wizzard again, with no change. I've even gone as far as rebuilding the TCP/IP stack from the command prompt.
I know there is something that I am going to kick myself for spending the last 3 days trying to figure out.
thanks

You can enable or disable the Internet Connection Firewall separately
on each network connection.

You must enable it on the desktop's Internet connection to protect
your computer from Internet hackers. Enable it right away!

You must disable it on both computers' LAN connections to allow them
to share files and printers.

I've written a web page with details:

I have tried that, is there any other permission areas that may be preventing me from sharing files and printers from my desktop?
