Like you can for any file or program, use Explorer to navigate to the file,
and right-click it and drag it to the desktop.... release and select "Create
shortcuts here"
In the case of Windows Mail,
go to C:\Program Files\Windows Mail
and find WinMail.exe
Start button > left column, right click on Windows Mail > click Send To >
click Desktop ( create shortcut )
