Icon will not appear in Taskbar/Scheduled Scan doe

I can't get the icon to appear in the task bar. I saw the
posts to fix it, on one it said to go to add/remove
programs and hit MASW and then click update. I did that
but it wanted to completely reinstall it it seemed like.
Also, I can't get my scheduled scan to go and the auto
updates do not work either. I have to manually do
everything does anyone have any ideas on what is going on?
Is it a bug? I'm afraid b/c the icon is not appearing that
the whole program is not functioning--it appears that way
too since autoupdate isn't doign its job and neither is
the scheduled scan.

Search this group for the following subject,
"The Spyware icon doesn't display in the system tray"
as I just finished going though this problem.

I just guessing but I bet your missing the little arrow
that used to be to the right of the system task tray
"<" that you could click to show
hidden icons, and if you try to customize these Icons
in properties you may note that there will be
at least one that you can't hide.
For me it was the "Local area connection", although
I noticed that other hide or show choices didn't hold.

Good luck

The update process is akin to a reinstall. It should only take a few
minutes though--that's what I would recommend.

I have also updated Windows XP service Pack 2
and after I discovered that my system tasks autohide feature
started to fail. I tried many times to update...
Yet, it had no updates to offer, note:
During the time of this error all my systems files where signed.

So I am guessing that it may be an error in the registry...
Is there a Microsoft Registry Checker,,,??????????

Many thanks in advance

The update install procedure should ensure that registry entries related to
the program are set appropriately, I believe. There's no generic registry
cleaner from Microsoft, and I avoid the third-party apps of this sort.
