On WinXP-Pro SP2. Suddenly several of my icons (All the ones for MS
Office, plus iTunes and QuickTime) have been replaced by generic icons
(in the Desktop, the QuickLaunch area and the Start Menu). I've run
the TweakUI utility with no luck. I've also removed the Iconcache.db
file to rebuild the icon cache, also with no luck. Can somebody please
help? Thanks in advance.

Will these applications run when you open them from the generic icons? If
not, you should be able to recover these icons from your program files
folder on the system drive.

download "tweakui" and see if the "repair icons" feature helps you

Yes, the programs work with the generic icon.

Have you tried right clicking on the shortcut and select properties. Click
on the shortcut tab and try to locate the correct Icon. If that works, you
could then copy the shortcut to the quicklaunch and the start menu.

Thank you,
Matthew
