Icon Refresh

My new Vista based PC seems to refresh icons much more frequently than my
older XP based system, and much more slowly. I've increased the size of the
icon cache but there is no apparent improvement. Any thoughts, helpful tips
etc?

I'm curious as to how you increased the size of the cache.

In the meantime, try going to Start Menu\Programs\Accessories\System Tools
and open Disk Cleanup. Put a checkmark next to Thumbnails. Click on OK
This will rebuild your Thumbnails database.

Stop refreshing them.

Your suggestion did the trick. Things are much better now.

To increase the size of the ShellIconCache file you need to change a
registry entry. I used the tweaking utility X-Setup Pro from

http://www.x-setup.net/

Thank you for your help.

I don't. It's Vista refreshing them and rather slowly.

Situation is much improved now as a result of the suggestion earlier in this
thread.
