Icon Preview in Explorer

Usually, the Windows Explorer automatically shows a preview of .ico
files, even in "Details" view. Since I've installed an icon editing
tool, however, I only get the default "unknown file type" icon for all
icon files.

How can I restore this Explorer functionality?

Revert the file association.

Start
Run
Type "control folders"
Hit enter or click Okay
File types tab
Locate .ico
Change it back (there's probably a revert button as it's now been changed.)
