icon in send/receive progress window

When I execute a Send/Receive, the progress dialog window has a clickable
icon in the bottom right corner (Office 2003). When I click on it the icon
rocks between what appears to be a picture of a drawin pin viewed edge-wise
on and another picture, not sure what but possibly two balloons
superimposed. The icon is very small so hard to judge what the picture
really is.

I can detect no impact of clicking on this icon other than to change its
image within the window. Can someone enlighten me what it does, please?

Double clicking on the icon opens the full Send/Receive dialog box, which
you have currently chosen to hide.
