At the top of a newsgroup message that I have received there are two icons.
One looks like a paper clip and the other looks like a pair of glasses.
What are these for? I have the same question for reading email but for an
exclamation mark, a paper clip and and what looks like a little flag? I did
try using help from widows mail but couldn't find anything. I did a search
for ! but search couldn't find this.

First, thanks very much for your response Gary. I'm afraid I don't
understand this well enough. They seem to be buttons and I don't understand
what pressing them I supposed to accomplish.

Pressing the buttons, as you call them, when in fact they are Column
Headers.

Pressing any of the Column Headers, the ones you mention plus Sent, To,
From, etc will sort messages by that column, either ascending (click again)
by descending.

You can add or remove columns by right click on the Column Headers
row>customise.

HTH?

It is clear to me now. I don't even know now why my brain was stuck on
this. This help is very much appreciated and I feel like a dummy.
